If you decline to purchase a monthly or yearly subscription, you will no longer have access to Cloud Manager’s automated deployment and upgrade features. You will also no longer have access to our APIs. You will still be able to use Cloud Manager to monitor your MongoDB deployments. With our free tier, you will receive 24 hrs of data retention and 5-minute granularity.
Automation
Pick your infrastructure. Cloud Manager can run on your servers in the public cloud, a private data center, or even on your laptop.
After you’ve installed Cloud Manager agents on your servers, create a new design for your system in the Cloud Manager self-service portal, either as a modification to an existing deployment or as a new deployment. Cloud Manager communicates the new design of your system to all agents.
The agents then create and follow a plan for implementing your new design. Using a sophisticated rules engine, agents continuously adjust their individual plans as conditions change. In the face of many failure scenarios — such as server failures and network partitions — agents will revise their plans to reach a safe state. This ensure that your system is deployed safely and reliably.
Monitoring
Connect to a single node in your cluster using the Cloud Manager web interface. The Cloud Manager monitoring agent connects to the node you selected and discovers all other nodes in your cluster. It then collects statistics from the nodes in your cluster and transmits them securely back to Cloud Manager. No MongoDB data is transmitted – only statistics and metadata.
Backup
After you have deployed a backup agent in your environment, the agent will conduct an initial sync of your MongoDB data to our fault-tolerant, geographically distributed data centers. Once the sync is complete, the backup agent streams encrypted and compressed MongoDB oplog data to Cloud Manager to provide continuous backup. This ensures that if your system does go down, the most recent backup is only moments behind, minimizing your exposure to data loss.
