Update Maintenance Settings for One Organization

PATCH /api/atlas/v2/orgs/{orgId}/maintenanceSettings

Updates maintenance settings for the specified organization. Omit optional fields from the request body to leave their current values unchanged. Specify null on an optional field to reset it to its default value.

Role requirements
  • Organization Owner

Path parameters

  • orgId string Required

Unique 24-hexadecimal digit string that identifies the organization that contains your projects. Use the /orgs endpoint to retrieve all organizations to which the authenticated user has access.

Format should match the following pattern: ^([a-f0-9]{24})$.

Query parameters

  • envelope boolean

Flag that indicates whether Application wraps the response in an envelope JSON object. Some API clients cannot access the HTTP response headers or status code. To remediate this, set envelope=true in the query. Endpoints that return a list of results use the results object as an envelope. Application adds the status parameter to the response body.

    Default value is false.

  • pretty boolean

Flag that indicates whether the response body should be in the prettyprint format.

    Default value is false.

    Prettyprint
application/vnd.atlas.2025-03-12+json

Body Required

Maintenance settings to update for the specified organization.

  • waveAssignmentMode string

Mode configured for this organization that determines how maintenance waves are assigned to projects. Possible values are MANUAL and ENV_TAG_MAPPING. Defaults to MANUAL when unset. Set the organization to ENV_TAG_MAPPING mode to have Atlas derive the maintenance wave from each project's environment tag. The tag key must be environment. The tag value determines the wave: development or test maps to Wave 1, staging maps to Wave 2, and production maps to Wave 3. Only this field can be updated; Atlas derives read-only effectiveWaveAssignmentMode on GET responses and uses that value for scheduling when it differs from waveAssignmentMode. Omit this field to leave the current value unchanged. Specify null to reset to the default value (MANUAL).

    Values are MANUAL or ENV_TAG_MAPPING.

    • RateLimit-Limit

The maximum number of requests that a user can make within a specific time window.

    • RateLimit-Remaining

The number of requests remaining in the current rate limit window before the limit is reached.

Hide response attributes Show response attributes object
    • effectiveWaveAssignmentMode string

Wave assignment mode that Atlas uses when scheduling maintenance for projects in this organization. This read-only field takes precedence over waveAssignmentMode for scheduling. It matches waveAssignmentMode except when cross-organization maintenance sequencing is enabled and this organization is a linked non-paying organization, in which case it reflects the paying organization's waveAssignmentMode. Possible values are MANUAL and ENV_TAG_MAPPING. Defaults to MANUAL when no mode is configured. Omitted from GET responses when maintenance sequencing is disabled for this organization.

      Values are MANUAL or ENV_TAG_MAPPING.

    • waveAssignmentMode string | null

Mode explicitly configured for this organization that determines how maintenance waves are assigned to projects. Possible values are MANUAL and ENV_TAG_MAPPING. Omitted from the response when no explicit preference has been set; in that case effectiveWaveAssignmentMode reflects the value the system uses (MANUAL by default). Atlas uses read-only effectiveWaveAssignmentMode (not this field) for scheduling. In a cross-organization billing hierarchy, a linked non-paying organization cannot update its effectiveWaveAssignmentMode field, which inherits from the paying organization's waveAssignmentMode. In this case, a linked non-paying organization's effectiveWaveAssignmentMode and waveAssignmentMode might differ.

      Values are MANUAL or ENV_TAG_MAPPING.
