MongoDB Expands Presence in Israel with Local Office and Israeli Managers

Groundswell Growing As Open Source Developer Community 
Embraces MongoDB NoSQL Database

Tel Aviv — Feb 3rd, 2014 — MongoDB, the leading NoSQL database popular among developers and IT professionals, today announced the opening of a local office in Israel and the appointment of local executives, Koby Lif and Sharon Elkayam. In the next weeks MongoDB will announce a series of distribution and partnership agreements demonstrating the Company commitment and involvement in the Israeli development landscape which reflect continuous adoption and engagement of MongoDB's solutions across Israel. This is augmented by a thriving developer community discovering the benefits of NoSQL. Israel's MongoDB User Group (MUG) - www.meetup.com/mongo-il, is a discussion hub for 700 developers across Israel. This highly engaged community has set up 15 meet-ups in the last few months, all of which have been well attended.

Koby Lif was appointed to EMEA Channels Director for MongoDB, as well as East Europe Sales Director. Koby has more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry, successfully building and leading teams, over-achieving business goals in various IT areas. In his last position he was East Europe Sales Director EMC/Greenplum. Prior to this he was services sales director - South East EMEA at Oracle Corporation, and from 1996 to 2009 Koby Lif held various managerial positions in Sun Microsystems, including as country manager for Israel, EMEA channel manager, partners and industries sales director, and services director – SEE. Koby Lif has M.A. in economics and quantitive economics, and M.B.A., information technology, both from Tel Aviv University.

Sharon Elkayam will be leading MongoDB pre-sales activity in Israel. He joined MongoDB from Greenplum (Pivotal), where he has spent the past 6 years in various positions, first in USA and then in EMEA. Most recently he has led the EMEA Pre-sales team for the company. Prior to Greenplum Sharon has held various senior technical and management roles in BI/DWH companies in Israel. Sharon has BSC in Information Systems Engineering degree from Ben Gurion University.
