What it is: MongoDB Atlas now supports a push-based OpenTelemetry (OTel) metrics stream that sends selected Atlas metrics to an OTLP-compatible observability destination. Project owners configure an endpoint and authentication in Atlas, and Atlas continuously delivers the metrics in an OpenTelemetry-native format.

Who it’s for: This capability is for DevOps engineers, SREs, DBAs, and enterprise architects who centralize monitoring in third-party observability platforms and need Atlas metrics in their existing workflows. It is available for Atlas Dedicated clusters on M10+ tiers.

Why it matters: The OTel Metrics Sink provides a vendor-neutral export path for integrating Atlas telemetry with observability platforms without building and maintaining vendor-specific exporters or pull-based scraping infrastructure. This helps teams centralize database and application signals, reduce integration overhead, and improve visibility during troubleshooting and incident response.
