Microsoft Ignite 2025: Deepening the MongoDB Alliance with Microsoft

November 18, 2025 | Updated: November 18, 2025 ・ 3 min read

At Microsoft Ignite 2025, MongoDB is celebrating a strong and growing partnership with Microsoft. We’re also introducing updates that further integrate MongoDB Atlas with key Microsoft and Azure services across AI development, security, and governance.

It’s been a milestone year for the MongoDB-Microsoft partnership: we’ve seen record customer adoption of MongoDB Atlas on Microsoft Azure, and we’ve invested in continued innovation to solidify MongoDB’s position as an exceptional data foundation for AI on Azure.

We’re also honored to be recognized as the 2025 Microsoft United States Partner of the Year! This award is a testament to an exceptional year of collaboration and validates MongoDB’s commitment to enabling more enterprises to modernize their data infrastructure so they can succeed in the AI era.

A spirit of collaboration

Here at MongoDB, partners touch over 80% of our new business—so needless to say, we recognize the importance of MongoDB’s partner ecosystem! We’re not only committed to providing developers with best-in-class database technology, we’re committed to working to deliver seamless, interoperable access to state-of-the-art technology across the stack. We want developers and enterprises alike to have powerful solutions at their fingertips, not just tools.

All of which is easier to do with strong partnerships—we’re so much better together. MongoDB’s collaboration with Microsoft exemplifies what the best partnerships should look like: our work together is rooted in a shared drive for innovation and customer success, and we’re deeply committed to the developer community.

Looking forward, we continue to see organizations double down on AI: in today’s economy, enterprises understand that fast innovation and effective digital transformation are more critical than ever. But as businesses increasingly build agents that can remember, reason, and act, they’ve found that agents need access to massive volumes of real-time, proprietary data—and that the bar for enterprise AI requires exceptional trust, as well as tight security and governance.

Today I’m thrilled to announce a number of updates and integrations that enable customers to more easily build trustworthy, secure AI applications with MongoDB Atlas on Azure:

  • MongoDB in Microsoft Foundry: The MongoDB Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server is now available in the Tools Catalog in Microsoft Foundry to securely connect intelligent agent workflows and copilots to live enterprise data in MongoDB Atlas. This new integration with Microsoft Foundry acts as a vital bridge, grounding AI in current, accurate business context rather than static data. Learn more here.
  • New ways to access leading models from Voyage AI by MongoDB: The voyage-3.5 embedding model by Voyage AI by MongoDB is now available within the Microsoft Foundry—with more industry-leading models coming soon. Voyage AI’s latest models are also now live in the Microsoft Marketplace. Voyage AI’s technology enables enterprises to easily build trustworthy, AI-powered applications by offering highly accurate and relevant information retrieval deeply integrated with their operational proprietary data—and now, it’s easier for developers to get up and running with the models they need to build powerful, context-aware, and trustworthy AI applications with Atlas on Azure.
  • Simplified compliance with Reference Implementation on Azure: MongoDB’s reference implementation for Azure allows customers to deploy MongoDB Atlas into compliant Azure environments, ensuring Atlas workloads—the data backend for new AI applications—automatically inherit corporate policies and security controls defined within the  Azure well architected Framework. Learn more here.
  • Real-time visibility with Microsoft Sentinel: With the new MongoDB Atlas Connector for Microsoft Sentinel now in public preview, security teams gain real-time visibility and automated threat detection across every Atlas workload—helping to ensure AI innovation doesn’t come at the expense of compliance. With Atlas security telemetry directly embedded into Microsoft’s cloud-native SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), enterprises unlock unified threat detection, investigation, and response across their full environments. Together, these integrations give enterprises the confidence and control to safely move faster—transforming trustworthiness into a competitive edge.

After our milestone year of partnership, it’s easier than ever for customers to take advantage of these latest features thanks to the deep, continued growth of MongoDB’s relationship with Microsoft. Earlier this year, for instance, MongoDB Atlas became a fully integrated Azure Native Integration (ANI) service, allowing customers to discover, deploy, and bill Atlas directly through the Azure Portal, just like any first-party service.

That means no procurement delays, no contract complexity, and immediate alignment with Azure MACC commitments are all possible—so teams can focus on building, not buying. As an Azure Native Integration, MongoDB Atlas is now deeply embedded at every layer of the stack—data, security, AI, procurement, and governance—making it simple for enterprises to take advantage of these latest integrations so they can modernize with confidence and move from AI ambition to AI impact. This deep integration is the bedrock for the new advancements we announced today—from the Microsoft Foundry integrations to enhanced security via Microsoft Sentinel.

If you’re in San Francisco for Ignite this week, we’d love to see you! Stop by booth #1427 at the conference to chat with the MongoDB team about the latest. Hope to see you soon.
