MongoDB Diversity Scholarship Terms & Conditions

The MongoDB Diversity Scholarship is sponsored MongoDB. You agree to these terms and conditions, including all eligibility requirements.

ELIGIBILITY
MongoDB’s goal is to increase the diversity of people involved in technology. To be considered for the MongoDB Scholarship, applicants must be a member of an underrepresented group in the technology industry, including women, African-Americans, Latinxs, people with disabilities, people from low-income backgrounds, and individuals from the LGBTQ community.

APPLICATION PERIOD
The applications open annually on September 1 and close on April 19 MongoDB World and open on July 1 and close on September 4 for MongoDB Europe (“Submission Period”). We may extend or shorten the contest in its discretion.

HOW TO ENTER
Apply to the Diversity Scholarship by completing the application form.

WINNER SELECTION
Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of need and impact. Selection will be made by a committee that will review each application. All application info will be kept confidential. Applicants will be notified of their application's status approximately three weeks pre-event. Winners will receive additional information on how to register for the conference.

If a potential scholarship winner cannot be reached by the Sponsor within five (5) days of initial contact, using the contact information provided at the time of entry, that potential prize winner shall forfeit the prize.

AWARD
Scholarship recipients will receive:

  • Complimentary admission to MongoDB Europe or MongoDB World
  • Access to a conference workshop at events where they are offered
  • Invitation to two lunch sessions with other Scholars
  • A MongoDB certification voucher for both the Developer and DBA Certification exams
  • Six-month access to on-demand MongoDB University courses
  • Membership in the online MongoDB Diversity Scholars community
  • A feature in a blog post

As a scholarship recipient, you must attend the event. If you cannot attend, another applicant will receive the pass. Contact Sponsor if you cannot make it to the event. Scholarship recipients are responsible for their own travel and lodging.

After attending the selected event and meeting with your mentor, you’ll receive a certification voucher and instructions to unlock your 6-month subscription to on-demand MongoDB University course content. If you do not attend the event, you forfeit all awards.

Travel and lodging are not included in this award. Incidental expenses and all other costs and expenses which are not specifically listed as part of a prize and which may be associated with the award, acceptance, receipt and use of all or any portion of the awarded prize are solely the responsibility of the scholarship recipient. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF ANY PRIZE IS SOLELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.

ADDITIONAL LIMITATIONS
A scholarship is non-transferable. No substitution or cash equivalent of scholarships is permitted. Sponsor may terminate, suspend or amend the Diversity Scholarship, without notice, and for any reason.

PUBLICITY AND USE OF DATA
By participating, each applicant grants Sponsor permission to use his/her name, image, likeness or comments for publicity purposes without payment of additional consideration, except where prohibited by law. By participating in the Diversity Scholarship, entrants hereby agree to usage of their personal information for marketing and promotional purposes.
