What is Tier 1 or Tier 2 in Atlas Continuous Cloud Backup Storage billing line

In my billing invoice I see Atlas Continuous Cloud Backup Storage - AWS (Paris) - <cluster_name> - Tier 1 and Atlas Continuous Cloud Backup Storage - AWS (Paris) - <cluster_name> - Tier 2.

What is exactly tier 1 and tier 2?

Hi @Pascal_Chabot,

What is exactly tier 1 and tier 2?

The continuous cloud backups are billed based on the disk space occupied by an internal oplog, combined with the cloud backup snapshot size. Atlas calculates backup pricing based on the region where it stores the snapshot and the amount of storage used per month. The tiers refer to the amount of storage used per month where Tier 1 corresponds to the first 5GB-100GB and Tier 2 corresponds with the first 100GB-250GB. Please refer to the Continuous Cloud Backups billing documentation for more information regarding this.

For Azure and GCP clusters, you may wish to scroll up slightly and select the corresponding cloud provider in which your cluster was created against as the documentation linked displays AWS pricing for continuous cloud backup storage.

Hope this helps,
Jason
