Test Atlas Search while developing locally?

I saw a post from 2020 which raised this issue, and the answer back then was that Atlas Search was in Beta and did not support locally testing Atlas Search.

Has this changed? Is there a way of easily developing and testing Atlas Search locally?

I know I could set up a free instance on Atlas and just use that, but it’s a pain to do it when all your devs work locally and all you testing datasets are on local MongoDB instances.

As you noted, Atlas Search is available on all Atlas clusters including free and shared tier clusters which might be suitable for testing or development.

There is currently no on-premises equivalent of Atlas Search, but there is a feature request you can upvote & watch: Allow the ability to test Atlas Search locally – MongoDB Feedback Engine.
