A host name with shard-00-00 in the middle of its name does not look like an SRV connection string. I would go back in atlas to get the appropriate URL. Alternatively, you could turnoff the SRV record option.

As mentioned by others in the forum please turn off the SRV record and you should be fine. However, if the issue still persists please feel free to get back to us.

Hi @DhineshBabu,

Please confirm that port 27017 is not blocked by clicking http://portquiz.net:27017.

If successful, you will see a page load that indicates you can make outgoing requests on port 27017.

If a page does not load and your request eventually times out, outgoing traffic to port 27017 is probably blocked on your local network. If this is the case, please contact your IT department to see if there is a workaround or try to make the request from another location.

If this is not the case then I would recommend you to check this great post by @Kanika on Compass related issues.

Generally, if you are unable to connect to the Mongo server after filling everything correctly or following the above steps, it is primarily because the network is blocking your requests to the Atlas server. So, to resolve this problem, you should do the following:

ping cluster0-shard-00-00-jxeqq.mongodb.net . If you are able to ping then try to see if you can reach the cluster via tracert

tracert cluster0-shard-00-00-jxeqq.mongodb.net . If tracert shows that you can reach the server, then try telnet. On Mac, you can tracert using
Launch Network Utility → Click on Traceroute → Enter cluster0-shard-00-00-jxeqq.mongodb.net → Click Trace. If it looks like this, means you can access the cluster.

telnet cluster0-shard-00-00-jxeqq.mongodb.net 27017. If you are able to connect via telnet then check if there is no white spaces added to the fields.

~$ telnet cluster0-shard-00-00-jxeqq.mongodb.net 27017
Trying 34.195.121.130...
Connected to ec2-34-195-121-130.compute-1.amazonaws.com.
