Tell us about your journey as a MongoDB User Group leader.

I discovered the Toronto MongoDB User Group after moving to the city in 2023. I met the founder, @chris, who invited me to speak at the next event and provided me with support throughout the process. After this experience, I was invited to become a co-leader. Since then, I’ve helped organize events and support new speakers.

What has been your most rewarding moment as a MUG leader?

My most rewarding moments as a MUG leader are meeting new people and encouraging them to share their knowledge. I enjoy helping members feel confident to speak, even when they think their topic is too basic or too advanced. I always say that “sharing and listening to feedback is one of the best ways to learn, and that every contribution can help someone in the community.” Seeing the growth that has come from these conversations is very meaningful to me.

Do you have any tips for developers looking to build a community?

One of the best tips for building a community is to connect with people early. Talk to them, share your ideas, and listen to theirs. You will find many who want to contribute and collaborate. When people feel supported, they gain confidence, participate more, and help the community grow.

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the MongoDB Community?

My favorite thing about being part of the MongoDB Community is the people. We support each other, share knowledge, and learn together. It is inspiring to see how collaboration and encouragement help everyone grow.

Where can developers connect with or learn more about you?
