He is a passionate creator who has made MongoDB concepts accessible to developers through his content, including “How to Integrate Apache Spark With Django and MongoDB” and “How to Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication in MongoDB Atlas”, etc.
We did a Q&A with Damilola about his journey, so keep reading to learn more about him and his insights on creating technical content,
Why did you start creating and sharing technical content?
For me, writing is a way to reinforce my learning, and that has always been my biggest inspiration. Whenever I learn something new, I naturally want to write about it because it pushes me to research more deeply and explain concepts more clearly. Writing has also helped me become a better communicator. Like any skill, the more I practiced, the more comfortable I became, so I overcame my initial hesitation simply by continuing to write.
Take us behind the scenes of your creative workflow
For technical content like tutorials, I start by researching the official documentation for the product, library, or framework, along with AI tools like Perplexity to explore related information. I then built the project myself, testing every step and documenting edge cases. Once I have a working solution, I create an outline, write the first draft, and refine it through multiple editing passes to improve clarity, accuracy, and flow.
What is your favorite content that you’ve created so far?
My favorite is How to Integrate Apache Spark With Django and MongoDB. It shows how to analyze data stored in MongoDB from a Django application using Apache Spark. I love it because of the extensive research and testing required to make every step reliable. I believe it’s the most technically advanced tutorial I’ve written in the past one or two years. Despite the complexity, it’s beginner-friendly and easy to follow for anyone with a basic understanding of Python and Django.
If you could share one piece of advice to someone who wanted to start creating technical content, what would that be?
Start writing now. Don’t wait until you feel like an expert. Since AI is now central to content creation, I also recommend learning to write without relying on it first. Then gradually integrate AI into your workflow, understanding its strengths and limitations, and recognizing where human judgment, experience, and critical thinking remain essential.
