Moving a large database

I often need to copy a database from one MongoDB server to another. While mongodump/mongorestore are generally effective, they become less practical with very large databases due to the time and resources required.

For context, I’m dealing with databases of 1-2T timeseries. Since both MongoDB instances are on the same version, I am wondering if there’s a more efficient method, perhaps involving direct file transfer, especially considering that I have directoryPerDB: true.

It should be easy to copy the database folder from one server and import it to the other, right? However it seems that there is no obvious way to import collection+index files.

Am I missing something here? Are there best practices or alternative methods for handling large databases in such scenarios?
