What is the best way to run grouping aggregations (sum, average etc) on the documents returned by $search? Adding a $group stage is not very performant and I have been unable to find an alternative.

You can use facets and count to get totals/sum. But Atlas Search does not have an out of the box solution for average. Feel free to vote on this feedback item as it relates.

Could you please share some documentation on getting sums in Atlas search? I was able to find it for counts, but not for sums.
