"Mongoose default connection to DB : disconnected because:undefined"

I am working in a development environment on an ongoing project, with a local instance of mongoDB running. Starting today, when I attempt to start the application it immediately disconnects and closes with this message:
“Mongoose default connection to DB : disconnected because:undefined”

Everything is working fine for my colleagues (a distributed team). Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be causing this?

With the help of my team, I found that the issue was I had updated my node to v18. My project works on v16. In case anyone else has this problem, check your node version!
