Welcome! We’re glad you’re here!
The MongoDB World Hackathon '22 runs from April 11th to May 20th and we have some exciting challenges, opportunities, and prizes planned.
The hackathon will be conducted primarily through the MongoDB Developer Community – where you are now!
If you have arrived at this welcome page, you have been automatically enrolled in the Hackathon Participants group and will get notification of activity relating to the hackathon including new livestreams, presentations, team formation, and discussion topics.
Take a moment now to browse the Hackathon discussions and posts. On the main hackathon page you’ll see some necessary Quick Links on the right hand side including Resources, Rules, Code of Conduct, and Frequently Asked Questions.
Participation
So, what’s next? For those new to hackathons, we’re trying virtually to emulate what happens in the real world for hackathons - so,
-
If you have an idea that you’d like help on and are looking for team-mates, then jump on over to Projects Looking for Hackers category and pitch your idea there in the hope of attracting the right talent.
-
If you have valuable skills but no project idea, then bounce across to Hackers looking for Projects category and share your experience so that others may see what you have to offer and recruit you to their team.
-
If you have an idea and the skills (or team) to get started that is awesome! The best part of hackathons is the collaboration and sense of community, so do reach out to help others and ask for help too if you are stuck. The more brains the better!.
The GDELT Dataset
For this hackathon you will be working with the GDELT Project Dataset. The GDELT (Global Database of Events, Language, and Tone) Project monitors the world’s broadcast, print, and web news from nearly every corner of every country in over 100 languages and identifies the people, locations, organizations, themes, sources, emotions, counts, quotes, images and events driving our global society every second of every day.
Ready to get started?
What will happen over the course of the 6 weeks?
