I’m looking to leverage MongoDB Kafka Sink-Source connectors for seamlessly consuming events from Kafka and storing them into a MongoDB collection within a kotlin-gardle based service

I think it is a good idea to use the MongoDB Kafka Sink-Source connectors and not directly use MoongoDB, but do not take my word for it - I believe an experienced MongoDB Employee might give you a better pros vs cons as to why.
