MongoDB is shutting down for long time with the log as I STORAGE [WTCheckpointThread] WiredTiger message

Hi Team,

MongoDB is shutting down for long time with the log as I STORAGE [WTCheckpointThread] WiredTiger message. Is there any particular reason for this to happen?

Team,

FYI, we are running with PSA Architecture. Primary went down and switchover happened to Secondary. Post this system is running with PA Architecture for the last 2 days. In this setup, we are facing slowness and wtite queue build up. Based on the suggestion in the link “https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/tutorial/mitigate-psa-performance-issues/”, We made changes on the priority and voting as zero for the node which is down. Also note the node which went down, we are unable to make it up due to unexpected environmental issues. Still we were facing slowness and write queues are building up and post which we took a restart of the DB, during which the above mentioned messages came and still the DB is shutting down for more than 4 Hours. Is there any way to identify the expected time for shutdown?

We want to know whether the Database will shutdown properly and get started properly since backup is not available for recovery.

Is there way to avoid these situations or any way to tackle these issues in the future?

Saravanan
