Tell us about your path to becoming a MongoDB Champion.

When starting a new cloud-native project in 2019, I used MongoDB for the first time and was immediately won over by the development speed it allows and its ease of use, while being a very powerful platform at the same time. In 2022, I went to my first MongoDB User Group meeting in Munich. About that time, I started publishing blog posts on using MongoDB with C# and data schema design. MongoDB started to notice, and I was invited to write as a guest author on the MongoDB Developer blog. In 2025, I was recognized as a MongoDB Champion.

You’ve been a MongoDB Champion for almost a year now. What drives you to continue helping the community?

Over the years, I have always believed in helping each other out and have been able to solve many technical challenges with help from the community. At the same time, I hope that one of my blog posts or an answer on Stack Overflow was useful to someone else. Being a MongoDB Champion gives me the chance to contribute and give back to the community - that’s why I am happy to be part of this group of like-minded NoSQL enthusiasts.

Can you share one impactful moment you’ve had as a Champion so far?

Some weeks ago, I received feedback from a customer after I helped them optimize their data schema for presentation on cloud dashboards. After changing the data schema to reduce the number of writes, their application could finally take the load they had planned for. This confirms that with MongoDB, having a good data schema in place really makes a difference.

If you could share one piece of advice to people in tech, what would that be?

The pace of software development has always been fast, but it seems to be getting even faster with AI. The leading edge of today is often outdated tomorrow. Don’t feel overwhelmed by the hype. It is worth learning the basics and patterns like Vector Search, RAG, and Agentic AI. Then employ technology in useful ways. Software solutions are valuable if they solve real-world problems, even if a model from yesterday works behind the scenes. Go on and build something
