I am running this on windows CMD.

How did you start your mongod? What command was used
Please check last line.It is waiting for connections
Open another cmd prompt window and connect to your mongod

Well I rechecked the Env variables but turns out my datapath didn’t exist so I had to manually create the data and db folder in my C Drive. It works now! but I just want it’s format in a better way like it is shown in the other tutorials and not in this json format as it is a bit difficult to read .

How do I get this output instead of the Json form that I’ve got in the above format(Refer Question Log)

Starting in MongoDB 4.4, mongod / mongos instances output all log messages in structured JSON format.

Hi @smiraldr,

As @chris noted, this is the expected format (also known as “structured logging”) for server logs in MongoDB 4.4+. While the JSON format may appear confronting at first glance, it is designed to be used with standard JSON tools and libraries. This actually represents a significant improvement from the previous log format, especially in terms of filtering and diagnostics. I’ve personally invested an unhealthy amount of time reverse engineering MongoDB log formats and variations  .

If you want to view startup warnings in a more readable format, you can:

  • Connect to your MongoDB 4.4+ deployment with a mongo 4.4+ shell or application

  • Pipe your server log to a JSON tool like jq. The Log Messages page that Chris mentioned includes some helpful log parsing examples.

Regards,
Stennie
