Mongo Atlas cluster name generation for GCP

After creating a new cluster in mongoDB Atlast (M30 on GCP infrastructure), the URL generated to connect to the new cluster does not contain the suffix “GCP” it is like [cluster_name.exaby.mongodb.net].

The url generated by atlas for the cluster we built there did contain “GCP” in the name ; it was cluster_old.exaby.gcp.mongodb.net.

Can anyone explain why we are getting such difference on the URL generation and how to fix it?

Welcome to MongoDB community!

Over time Atlas evolve its dns assignments to clusters. Now clusters can be spun over multiple cloud providers therefore adding a cloud symbol suffix doesn’t make sense anymore.
