Mongo and S3 Archive storage

Hi all…

Just want to check, one of the recent youtube videos, the IoT/factory one, they mention S3 only available as a colder storage tier in AWS… is this basically just Atlas that has been configured with this option avail in AWS. or is it more specific to AWS S3.

ie could a customer deploy Mongo on prem and drop a Minio S3 storage layer, or a VAST appliance with S3 capability behind to move old/cold data to…

Is this only Atlas on AWS that support tiered storage using AWS S3, or would this also be Atlas on Google… using their S3, or what about on prem Mongo, could you do this using a S3 compliant/compatible Object store?
