Hacktoberfest: Wednesday Weigh-in

Hello open source projects! During the month of October, let’s do a “Wednesday weigh-in” to see how #hacktoberfest is going for your projects. What’s going on in the codebase? What contributions have you gotten? Are there any issues you’d LOVE to see worked on?

The O-FISH project had a great start to Hacktoberfest. We had a fantastic kickoff meeting, where a brief demo of the apps and their architecture were shown. If you missed the video, you can watch the replay.

Looking to participate? We got you covered with some lovingly hand-picked issues we think you might enjoy:

iOS issues - SwiftUI:

Android issues - Kotlin

Web issues - React / Node.js

All repos are looking for more testing scripts if you’re into CI/CD work. There are also documentation issues around - we’re not kidding when we say we have something for everyone!

We are awed by the love from the community so far - we have had 45 contributions - @yo_adrienne listed most of them in her recent Weekly Update.

And we have a leaderboard - click the image to be taken to it to see the entire board:

As of right now, we have 94 contributions from 47 different contributors!

Android is almost totally complete with Dark mode, though there are some lingering issues.

iOS had a crashing bug fixed, and needs more work to get dark mode complete.

Web had a bug fixed where an empty license number caused a crew member to not have a name, and it would be awesome to have some unit tests for it.

Here’s this week’s leaderboard - click on the image to be taken to the full leaderboard:

Well, here it is, Wednesday again! We had a bit of a dip in contributions last week - which was nice because I was having a hard time keeping up with all the PRs! But now the queues are cleared, and there are more issues to work on, so if you haven’t gotten your hacktoberfest PR’s in just yet, here’s a list of select open issues we’d love for folks to take on:

iOS
There are several tickets to make sure dark mode is implemented everywhere in the iOS app.
And a really important issue to capture an “Other” value for some fields.

Android
Script to check for strings that aren’t localized
And a really important issue to capture an “Other” value for some fields.

React/Node.js
Change where the Agency Form Data links from
Search results are being redirected to the wrong page

Or try your hand at some unit testing - for iOS, Android or React/Node.js.

Here’s a more detailed board of contributions by week (Weeks are from Monday-Sunday)
