Darshan Hiranandani : Power BI and Excel ODBC Connection to MongoDB Failing – “MongoDB schema not yet available” Error

Hi everyone,

I’m Darshan Hiranandani, I’ve recently encountered an issue where Power BI is no longer connecting to MongoDB to pull data, and I’m also seeing the same problem when trying to connect via Excel. Nothing has changed on our end, so I’m unsure why it suddenly stopped working.

Here’s the setup:

  • Hosted MongoDB: Version 6.0.11
  • Mongo-Bi-Connector: 2.4.11
  • ODBC Driver: 1.4.3 (Tried 1.4.5 as well, but no luck)

Error message:

“ODBC: ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 1.4(w) Driver]MongoDB schema not yet available
ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 1.4(w) Driver]MongoDB schema not yet available”

It seems like the connection is failing because the MongoDB schema is not accessible or available, but I haven’t made any configuration changes recently that would explain this.

Has anyone faced this issue before or has any suggestions on how to resolve it? Any help or advice would be much appreciated, as I’ve had limited success with Google searches on this issue.

The mongosqld logs should give an indication of what the issue it. A FLUSH SAMPLE may be enough to get things running again.

As the MongoDB BI Connector is part of an Enterprise Advanced subscription I also suggest opening a support ticket with MongoDB https://support.mongodb.com
