Check your config file for dbpath, logpath locations
See if these dirs exist or not and with proper permissions/ownership
Does mongod.log show more details?

I face the same.

permissions/ownership checked for dbpath & logpath.
mongod.log doesn’t print anything. Also .sock file doesn’t generates.

mongodb@cfg1:/$ sudo systemctl status mongod.service
