SHANGHAI, CHINA – August 4, 2016 – MongoDB Inc. is hosting its annual user conference in China on August 4, 2016 at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai. MongoDB is the world’s most popular modern database, according to db-engines.com, and is freely available as open source software.

Thousands of Chinese organisations use MongoDB to transform and modernise their business. These include agile consumer-tech companies like Didi Chuxing (through its acquisition of Kauidi) and Baidu as well as established enterprises such as China Eastern Airlines and Foxconn. Globally MongoDB is relied on by businesses such as AXA, DHL, Barclays, UPS, Comcast, and Expedia.

This year’s event is another milestone in MongoDB’s commitment to the China market following January’s announcement that industry veteran Steve Su was named as MongoDB’s senior executive for the Greater China market. The team has grown extensively to bring in strong sales and technical experience. Local language resources are being rolled out and new product features have been developed to better support local users, including native support for Chinese search, as well as advanced management tools and enterprise capabilities.

Dev Ittycheria, President & CEO, said: “Almost every business today is defined by how they use software to move their business forward, and the success of a business’ software initiatives hinges on leveraging the creativity and productivity of software developers. Millions of forward thinking organizations are unleashing the power of software and data by building modern and sophisticated applications on infrastructure that is more flexible, more scalable, and more powerful to transform and accelerate their businesses. We are excited to partner with many of the world’s most innovative organizations here in China. The scale of challenge and opportunity is unprecedented anywhere else in the world at and any other time in history.”

Adoption of big data and analytics in the Greater China region is accelerating faster than ever before, with the market expected to reach $3.5B in 2018 according to IDC estimates. And according to Gartner, China's end-user software purchase priorities will shift next year from infrastructure modernization to an emphasis on big data and analytics, new cloud enterprise applications and the Internet of Things.*

“We meet with leading organisations every day and the priorities of the CIO are clear – companies need to improve time to market for applications, develop a cloud strategy, and modernise their infrastructure to scale globally. These are some of the reasons organizations turn to MongoDB,” said Steve Su, Area Vice President, Greater China region, MongoDB.

“This is why we are so committed to the China market. We see the opportunity – there are over twice as many Internet users in China as there are people in the US. As a company we have the resources, technology, and commitment to make a massive impact in China. From my experience, I believe we can deliver 100% year-over-year growth for years to come.”
