Moving Hudl from MS SQL to MongoDB: A Two Year Journey

Hudl serves almost 1 billion video views per month to athletes and coaches. We ran a large single SQL mirroring setup but quickly hit the limits of our AWS instances at the time. Over the past two years we have moved the majority of our data into a sharded MongoDB cluster and have seen developer productivity increase, reduced latency for our end users, and better server fault resiliency. This talk will discuss the challenges, shortcuts, and results of this transition on top of AWS.
