How MongoDB Atlas Live Migration Works

PublishedJune 10, 2020

MongoDB Atlas can perform a live migration of a source cluster to Atlas, keeping the Atlas cluster in sync until you're ready to perform a cutover.

In this talk, you will learn how this live migration works under the hood. The service uses the mongomirror tool to perform an initial sync, build indexes, and tail the oplog of a source cluster to keep the clusters in sync.

This talk will cover the best practices to follow to ensure a smooth and safe migration.
