# planCacheListFilters (database command)

## Definition

Lists the [index filters](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/core/query-plans.md#std-label-index-filters) associated with [plan cache query shapes](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/glossary.md#std-term-plan-cache-query-shape) for a collection.

### Query Settings

Starting in MongoDB 8.0, use query settings instead of adding [index filters](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/core/query-plans.md#std-label-index-filters). Index filters are deprecated starting in MongoDB 8.0.

Query settings have more functionality than index filters. Also, index filters aren't persistent and you cannot easily create index filters for all cluster nodes. ## Syntax

The command has the following syntax:

db.runCommand(
   {
     planCacheListFilters: <collection>
   }
)
```

## Command Fields

The command has the following fields:

| Field | Type | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `planCacheListFilters` | string | The name of the collection. |
| `comment` | any | Optional. A user-provided comment to attach to this command. Once set, this comment appears alongside records of this command in the following locations: [mongod log messages](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/log-messages.md#std-label-log-messages-ref), in the `attr.command.cursor.comment` field.; [Database profiler](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/database-profiler.md#std-label-profiler) output, in the [`command.comment`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/database-profiler.md#mongodb-data-system.profile.command) field.; [`currentOp`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/command/currentop.md#mongodb-dbcommand-dbcmd.currentOp) output, in the [`command.comment`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/command/currentop.md#mongodb-data-currentOp.command) field. A comment can be any valid [BSON type](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/bson-types.md#std-label-bson-types) (string, integer, object, array, etc). |

## Required Access

A user must have access that includes the [`planCacheIndexFilter`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/privilege-actions.md#mongodb-authaction-planCacheIndexFilter) action.

## Output

The [`planCacheListFilters`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/command/plancachelistfilters.md#mongodb-dbcommand-dbcmd.planCacheListFilters) command returns the document with the following form:

   "filters" : [
      {
         "query" : <query>
         "sort" : <sort>,
         "projection" : <projection>,
         "collation" : <collation>,
         "indexes" : [
            <index1>,
            ...
         ]
      },
      ...
   ],
   "ok" : 1
}
```

The array of documents that contain the index filter information.

Each document contains the following fields:

The query predicate associated with this filter. Although the [`query`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/command/plancachelistfilters.md#mongodb-data-planCacheListFilters.filters.query) shows the specific values used to create the index filter, the values in the predicate are insignificant; i.e. query predicates cover similar queries that differ only in the values.

For instance, a [`query`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/command/plancachelistfilters.md#mongodb-data-planCacheListFilters.filters.query) predicate of `{ "type": "electronics", "status" : "A" }` covers the following query predicates:

```javascript
{ type: "food", status: "A" }
{ type: "utensil", status: "D" }
```

The sort associated with this filter. Can be an empty document.

The projection associated with this filter. Can be an empty document.

The [collation](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/collation.md#std-label-collation) associated with this filter. Can be an empty document.

The array of indexes for the plan cache query shape.

The plan cache query shape is the combination of these fields:

- [`sort`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/command/plancachelistfilters.md#mongodb-data-planCacheListFilters.filters.sort)

- [`projection`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/command/plancachelistfilters.md#mongodb-data-planCacheListFilters.filters.projection)

- [`collation`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/command/plancachelistfilters.md#mongodb-data-planCacheListFilters.filters.collation)

To choose the best query plan, the query optimizer evaluates the [`indexes`](https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/command/plancachelistfilters.md#mongodb-data-planCacheListFilters.filters.indexes) *and* the collection scan.

The status of the command.
