Mongo Moscow was a one-day conference dedicated to MongoDB, the leading open source, non-relational database, with speakers from 10gen, CROC, and Yandex. The conference featured sessions on schema design, indexing, administration, replication, sharding, and more. The event was sponsored by 10gen, the company that develops and supports the database, and hosted by the Digital October center.

Andrew Aksyonoff is widely known in a small web development world as the author of Sphinx full-text search engine. In his previous professional lives he has been a web developer (twice), a 3D-engine-coding CTO in a video games company, a systems programmer, etc. Andrew writes code, manages teams, speaks at conferences, disturbs the public peace.

Eugene Ciurana, Badoo

Eugene Ciurana ( is the VP of Technology at, one of the largest social networking sites in worldwide, and a cofounder of SOBA Labs, the most sophisticated public and private clouds management software. Eugene is also an open source evangelist who specializes in the design and implementation of mission-critical, high availability systems. He recently built scalable computational networks for leading financial, software, insurance, SaaS, government, and healthcare companies in the US, Japan, Mexico, and Europe. Eugene can be found on the Freenode IRC network (##java, #awk, #python, #mongodb) under the /nick pr3d4t0r.

Yury Konovalov, CROC

Konovalov leads a team of talanted software developers involved in design and development of scalable IaaS cloud platform called СROC Cloud (C2). Yury joined CROC in August 2003 as Senior UNIX support engineer. As engineer, Konovalov has responsibility for IT architecture design and implementation in CROC's most complex projects, encompassing Linux, HPC, clustering, and cloud. Yury Konovalov has been instrumental in forging tight partnerships with several leading open-source technology companies, including Red Hat. Prior to joining CROC, he worked as UNIX/Linux trainer, IT consultant and technical writer at UnixCenter.RU, helping the company achieve market recognition in 2001. Konovalov holds a Engineering degree in Electronics from Moscow State Aviation Institute (University of Aerospace Technology).

Richard Kreuter, 10gen

Richard is a software engineer at 10gen, the company that develops and supports MongoDB. has wrangled code in bioinformatics, websites, compilers, airfare search, among other randoms. About half a career ago, while boggling at a hairy bioinformatics database schema, he often asked to himself, "Why are we trying to shoehorn as-yet-unstructured facts of cutting-edge science into a data model meant mostly for plumbing parts and payrolls?"

Mathias Stearn, 10gen

Mathias is also a software engineer at 10gen. He works on the core MongoDB server and maintains the C++ language driver. Previously, he worked at FactSet where he used MongoDB in a log analysis application. He has a degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
