In the first mongod video, it was mentioned that shutting down the mongo server could be accomplished through a series of steps, but I never heard, why? Why would you want to shut down the mongo server? A little clarity on all the relationships going on here would be helpful, especially the daemon’s connection with the “server.”
This is not a production server and hence you can shut it down when you are done working on it. Going forward in this course, you would be running almost 9 mongod instances at a time in the sharding chapter.
Ideally, you would not prefer to have the mongod instances running if you know that you are not going to use it because it will be consuming a lot of resources on your system. You can bring them back again whenever you want to use it by simply running the mongod command.
Hope it helps!
