When will BI Connector Auth plugin support MySQL 8 drivers

Per documentation, BI Connector usage of MySQL JDBC is limited to the older 5.x drivers.

When will Mongo support MySQL Connector/J version 8?

Note also, some vendors switched to using MariaDB JDBC due to backward binary breaking changes in MySQL Connector 8. Does Mongo plan to move to that strategy or remain on MySQL 5?
