What is the difference between a text index and a search index?

Text index vs search index

While going through the Realm video series on Youtube I noticed in the search section we didn’t implement a text index in order to enable the text search functionality we just made a search index. I did not even know this was a thing, I thought the purpose of a text index was to enable search. Is this text search something exclusive to Realm? If not…

  1. What is the difference between a text index search and a regular search
  2. When would you use one over the other

Any feedback/ guidance is greatly appreciated.
