Replace

@Big_Cat_Public_Safety_Act

logAppend: true

with

logAppend: false

and then redo

@Big_Cat_Public_Safety_Act

brew services start mongodb-community@4.2

Share the log file, we should get the real reason why it fails. The other error from the log you shared is from 2 days ago. Most likely you had another mongod running at that time.
