Lab: Read Preferences

Hi Forum:

I really appreciate your help with this question:
In this lab “Lab: Read Preferences” that is the lastone of Replica Set concepts, it said that two of the tree replica set nodes failed. So only one still remains and we need to choose a readPreference so that we can get our data retrived.

I choose all readPreferences but not the secondary, because I assumed that the node, that still remains, is also the primary one. Why that was not the correct answer? All those choises were not supposed to allways get the data retrieved by the primary in one way or another?

Thank you so much!

To have a primary you need a majority number of nodes up. If 2 nodes are down with a 3 nodes replica set, then you cannot have majority so you have no primary.

Thanks Steeve.

Would you please share with me a reference which I can read this theoretical concepts?
