Final Exam Question 2 - DB Size

I don’t want to give the answer away, but the DB size would need to handle the average device space in addition to the peak space at some arbitrary time in the year.

After calculation, just one day at peak would put the DB size over the correct answer , so you would have to accommodate more than 1 day of peak. With that in mind and an assumption you wouldn’t want enough space for peak period everyday of the year, none of the DB size selections are correct.

Hi @Jennifer_10808,

I think the average is calculated as the total space needed devided by the number of days. So the peak sizes are already “included” in the average device spaces.
If you drink one beer each day of the week (monday to saturday) and three beers on sunday, your average “beer rate” per day is 1.28 :wink:

@Jennifer_10808 I raised the issue of DB Size with the Curriculum Engineers and I think they’ll add more clarity in the upcoming session.

Ah, I see. I hadn’t thought of that. If that’s the case I completely missed it and hope that they add a caveat saying that the peak is already calculated in the average for others like me (mostly me lol)

I think this calculation is 530 Petabytes…no 530 Terabytes, could be? :frowning_face:

But 1 Terabyte is 1,000,000,000,000 bytes.
And the calculation result is (6024365)(10,000,000100) = 525,600,000,000,000 bytes ~ 530,000,000,000,000 bytes = 530 Terabytes
So that’s correct.
