Compass download failure with Chrome on Windows and workaround

I see a number of similar issues previously reported. Using latest Chrome on Windows 7 Professional, the browser is mis-recognized as Apple OS. After selecting the Windows version (any) the download button is active but does nothing. Switching to Explorer, the OS is correctly recognized and the download was possible. Looks like two defects in the interface.
