Unless you are vitualising the benefits from sharding may not eventuate. Assuming you are manually configuring WiredTgiger cache appropriately the mongod will experience contention on the filesystem cache which would lead to more disk fetches.
Overall cpu/ram/network/io/filehandles etc are all going to be contended for.
