Chapter 2: Tooling Overview - Lab: Analyze Log Components

Hi,
I tried to run the python singleapp.py script as mentioned in the Lab: Analyze Log Components to get result tocomplete the lab but I didn’t get anything. I issued the command and after little while nothing happens but the prompt.

Please check singleapp.py script.There should be a path to your logfile
Your single.log would have recorded some messages

Hi Ramachandra_Tummala,
thank you for your reply.
I didn’t find any path in the singleapp.py script.

Here the content of the file:

from docopt import docopt
from pymongo import MongoClient
from multiprocessing import Process
from time import sleep
import random

def checkin(_id, pident, host=‘localhost’, port=27000):
try:
client = MongoClient(host=host, port=port)
client.server_info()
client.singleapp.checkin.insert_one({
“_id”: _id,
“process”: pident,
“msg”: “was here!”
})
sleep(20)
except:
# move along citizen, nothing to see here!
assert True, “expected”

return True

def main():
opts = docopt(doc)
host = opts[’–host’]
port = int(opts[’–port’])
n_processes = int(opts[’-n’])
ids = range(n_processes)
rand = random.Random()
processes = []
for i in xrange(n_processes-1):
_id = rand.choice(ids)
p = Process(target=checkin,
kwargs={“host”: host,“port”: port, “pident”: i, “_id”: _id})
p.start()
processes.append(p)

if name == ‘main’:
main()

Please check single.cfg

This is the content of the single.cfg file:

systemLog:
destination: file
path: /home/vagrant/single.log
processManagement:
fork: true
net:
port: 27000
maxIncomingConnections: 10
storage:
dbPath: /home/vagrant/data

Check contents of above logfile

I checked the file but for my current knowledge I didn’t find anything. No error message or something that could help me to understand why when I run the python singleapp.py script it doesn’t get anything instead of something to give an answer at the Lab: Analyze Log Components question and go ahead with the M312 course.

I don’t know the details of this lab
May be the operations done by script not slow enough to be captured?

This is the content of the single.log file:

I was referring to your lab task.
I think your script is working as expected
If you don’t pass any parm to your script default value it takes is 10.so at 10 it is not allowing more connections
Give a higher value like 12 or 15 and see

Hi Rachamandra_Tummala,
thank you for your reply I was able to find where the problem is. The lab is asking what MongoDb is reporting an issue and it’s just looking at the single.log and I’ve found.
Thank you for your support.
