About OS Settings

I’m going to set up the OS for MongoDB.
However, what is the trouble of setting a value larger than the recommended value?
(For example, a value greater than 3 times)

Recommended Values → Ex My Values

  • ulimit_ nofile : 64,000/64,000 → 800,000/800,000

  • ulimit_ nproc : 64,000/64,000 → 800,000/800,000

  • /proc/sys/fs/file-max : 98,000 → 1,000,000/1,000,000

  • /proc/sys/kernel/pid_max : 64,000 → 800,000/800,000

  • /proc/sys/kernel/threads-max : 64,000 → 800,000/800,000

  • /proc/sys/vm/max_map_count : 128,000 → 1,600,000/1,600,000

Hi @Kim_Hakseon

what is the trouble of setting a value larger than the recommended value?

Well that usually depends on the hardware involved. If you don’t see any adverse effects, then the hardware can handle the elevated settings. The recommended settings are for a generic hardware, so your actual case might vary.
