Smart applications are having a major impact on the operational data platforms sector, a trend highlighted in a recent report by Ventana Research. According to VP and Research Director, Matt Aslett, "The emergence of intelligent applications impacts requirements for operational data platforms to support real-time analytic functionality." In his assessment of vendors and products, Aslett says MongoDB Atlas is well suited for enabling this increasingly popular proposition:
- MongoDB Atlas Data Federation enables users to query, transform and aggregate data from multiple MongoDB Atlas databases, as well as Amazon Web Services’ S3 cloud storage service.
- Analytics workloads are also enabled by MongoDB Atlas Charts, a tool for creating, sharing and embedding visualizations based on data in Atlas (as well as other data sources via Atlas Data Federation).
- APIs, triggers and functions support the development and integration of applications.
- Atlas also has full-text search capabilities based on the open-source Apache Lucene search engine library.
