Services Delivery Enablement Engineer - Mobile & Realm

MongoDB Professional Services provides deep expertise to support customers' most critical projects and maximize their investment in the MongoDB application data platform. Our consulting engineers work together with customers to solve complex engineering problems and implement a variety of applications and use cases with MongoDB.

MongoDB Realm (the Realm Mobile Database together with MongoDB Realm’s edge-to-cloud sync and fully-managed back-end services) enables developers to build, deploy, and scale best-in-class apps across Android, iOS, and Web.

The Services Delivery Enablement team within MongoDB Professional Services is responsible for designing and developing technical enablement programs for a broad set of stakeholders within the MongoDB PS team and its consulting partner organizations, principally consulting engineers and developers. Moreover, the team is a driving force behind consulting processes, playbooks, systems and tools to help ensure these technical professionals are at the top of their game so that we provide a world-class customer experience.

We are looking for an experienced mobile developer with full-stack exposure to take the MongoDB PS team to the next level of expertise in building mobile solutions using the MongoDB Realm stack.

This role will be based remotely in New York, NY or on the east coast of North America

What you'll do

  • Deliver technical training to internal and partner stakeholders, principally consulting engineers and developers
  • Evaluate training requirements by product and role, and develop appropriate technical enablement programs for internal and partner stakeholders, with a particular focus on MongoDB Realm offerings and all mobile use cases
  • Keep abreast of new products, product features, customer adoption scenarios - collaborating with the MongoDB product engineering, field engineering and sales teams. Develop engaging, accurate, in-depth enablement content that helps make our consultants successful and drive the adoption of MongoDB products
  • Build-out and support crowd-sourcing of playbooks, best practices and other technical consulting resources to drive a culture of excellence
  • Ensure that MongoDB consulting engineers and other roles have access to systems and resources necessary to perform their roles competently (e.g. cloud infrastructure, external e-learning)
  • Develop and maintain systems and tools used by consulting engineers, the broader delivery team, and PS leadership, to ensure delivery excellence and efficient use of resources (e.g. monitoring cloud provider resource usage, enhancing our CE learning management system)

Experience you'll need

  • 4+ years of iOS or Android development experience, building mobile applications in some of the following languages: .NET Xamarin, React Native, Swift, or Kotlin/Java
  • Experience with Realm and Realm Sync would be beneficial. Knowledge of alternative tools such as Firebase, Amplify, SQLite would also be an advantage
  • Competence in at least one of the following languages (in no particular order): Java, C++, C#, Python, Node.js (JavaScript), Ruby, Perl, Scala, Go
  • Experience with databases such as MongoDB, Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL
  • 2+ years of consulting or support experience in a customer-facing role
  • Familiarity with enterprise-scale software architectures, application development methodologies, and software deployment and operations.
  • Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to innovative technologies and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High motivation for a role that combines deep technical work with the softer skills needed to incept and drive change and improvement across the MongoDB PS organization
  • A “can-do” attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally

Success Measures

Within 3 months:

  • Complete new hire technical training to acquire technical knowledge of MongoDB products, their specific capabilities and use cases
  • Familiarize yourself with the PS business, organizational structure, and existing enablement assets
  • Deliver technical training to ramp MongoDB consulting engineers and partner developers

Within 6 months:

  • Take ownership of appropriate parts of the technical enablement curriculum, developing new and existing content and methods of delivery to ensure that we provide a superlative ramping experience, and can do so at scale
  • Contribute to initial success in improving the evergreening of consultant skills, with particular focus on how we scale expertise across a growing number of MongoDB products
  • Contribute to ongoing evolution of the enablement roadmap

Within 12 months:

  • Act as a driving force within the MongoDB consulting engineer community meaningfully driving increased consistency and excellence in consulting delivery worldwide, through the build-out and crowd-sourcing of best practices
  • In alignment with business requirements, build mobile app reference implementations to support internal training efforts and further sophistication of MongoDB PS team to sell and deliver mobile app solutions
