Program Manager, Developer Education

MongoDB Education is a team of dedicated engineers, technical writers, and trainers whose mission is to educate MongoDB users and equip them to be successful. MongoDB University, the MongoDB documentation, and the MongoDB user conferences developed by Education are the primary means through which members of our community learn to use MongoDB. We help create great user experiences by providing outstanding learning opportunities.

The team works with JIRA and Google Docs so any programming proficiency with these tools is a plus. There are lots of opportunities to automate things.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven success as someone who can effectively manage change in a highly technical organization
  • A strong background (and developed opinions) on different project management approaches
  • A well-developed ability to facilitate projects in cross-functional teams
  • At least five years successfully managing technical projects using a variety of project management techniques
  • A background in computer science, either a degree or comparable work experience

Position Expectations

  • Coordinate the efforts of a cross-functional team of leaders in engineering, product management, and marketing to maintain a roadmap of sample applications, hands-on tutorials, and breakout sessions that comprise the technical programs for MongoDB user conferences around the world
  • Collaborate with leads of three content-development squads to operationally run and continuously improve the teams' workflow
  • Coordinate speaker preparation, including peer workshops and speaker coaching

Success Measures

  • In 3 months you will have ramped up on MongoDB products and services
  • In 6 months you will have moved into a role supporting three content development teams
  • In 12 months you will have facilitated a number of improvements in workflow and integrated content development efforts from teams outside Education

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience as a program manager
  • Experience working with curriculum development, developer documentation, or developer relations teams
  • Technical experience to be able to understand the concepts being discussed, with the ability to facilitate discussion and flesh out details required to enable successful delivery
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your style and delivery for a variety of audiences
