Recap: MongoDB Austin 2011
MongoDB Austin was a packed day of MongoDB learning and community-building, with over 240 attendees. The event was sponsored by OpenShift , a free, auto-scaling platform-as-a-service for Java, Ruby, PHP, Perl and Python applications. 10gen was represented at the event by engineers Mike O’ Brien, Kevin Hanson, Scott Hernandez, and Brandon Diamond. MongoDB Austin also featured a presentation from PaaS evangelist Grant Shipley from Red Hat, who discussed developing iPhone and Android applications with a MongoDB backend on the cloud. Saleem Shafi of X.commerce likewise presented a case study on MongoDB for e-commerce. MongoDB Austin offered presentations relevant to everyone from the novice to the expert. Mike O’Brien presented a tutorial on building your first MongoDB application, while Scott Hernandez shared advanced shell tips and tricks.
