MongoDB Expands Client List to Include India's Fastest Growing Messenger App - Hike

New Delhi – 07, April 2014: Hike, the instant messaging app, today announced its association with leading NoSQL database MongoDB. Through this engagement in India, Hike will leverage MongoDB to manage its subscriber growth. Growing in popularity, Hike anticipates increasing global engagement depending on the rate of adoption of the messaging platform.

Commenting on this partnership, Kamal Brar, APAC GM at MongoDB, said, “This partnership comes at a crucial time as Hike recently crossed the 15 million user mark in a span of just 9 months. It is on track to become one of the leading messaging applications in the country. With its natural development model, MongoDB will provide Hike with the much needed platform to cater and scale its operations as well as offer faster, real-time analytics across a variety of applications.”

Mr. Brar, MongoDB further added, “We will provide MongoDB Database subscriptions for Hike’s messaging platform ensuring enterprise-grade capabilities, uptime and scalability to meet its demanding subscriber growth.”

MongoDB has collaborated with organizations worldwide and has a thriving global community with over 7 million downloads of its open-source database, 1,000 customers, 150,000 online education registrations, 30,000 user group members and 20,000 MongoDB Days attendees. Some of the commonly used cases include operational and analytical big data, content management and delivery, mobile and social infrastructure, user data management and data hub.

Our user base has sky-rocketed in the past couple of months and, with the surge in daily messaging volume, we knew we needed a partner who could meet our explosive growth,” said Rajat Bansal, CTO, Hike messenger.

According to Nasscom, big data analytics would offer an opportunity of $7-7.5 billion (Rs 42,100-45,150 crores) by 2020.
